African American Studies

Acting Director: Derrick Harriel
The African American studies program offers interdisciplinary programs that focus on the African American experience in the United States, especially in Mississippi and the South. It encourages students and faculty to examine the black experience, to facilitate a cultural and intellectual atmosphere on campus favorable to such studies, and to undertake a program of research and service.
