Lambda Alpha, the anthropology honors society, is sponsoring National Scholarships, Research Grants, and a 50th Anniversary Founder’s Student Paper Competition. The National Scholarship of $5000 will be awarded to one true senior; one nomination is permitted per chapter. The application requires a letter of nomination, a CV, copies of academic transcripts, two letters of recommendation, a statement of future professional plans, and a 10-page paper (any anthropological topic). One graduate student per chapter can be nominated for the $2000 research grant (in either archaeology, bioarchaeology or cultural). The application requires a letter of nomination, CV, copies of transcripts, and a 5-page thesis proposal, and is intended to support field work. In addition, the 50th Anniversary Founder’s Paper competition will award between $25 (honorable mention), $300 (third place), $400 (second place) and $700 (first place) to an undergraduate and a graduate student for a paper in anthropology. Papers will be published in the society’s journal.
Deadline for all materials to the national office is March 15. If you are interested in learning more about these awards and the application please contact Dr. Maureen Meyers (Lamar 560) (email@example.com). Application proposals and papers are due to the UM Anthropology Department by March 1.
