Jeff Jackson, 2012 UM Humanities Teacher of the Year

Dr. Jeff Jackson, Associate Professor of Sociology, will deliver the 2012 University of Mississippi Humanities Teacher of the Year Lecture on Thursday, November 8th at 7:00 pm in the Tupelo Room of the Barnard Observatory.  The title of Jackson’s lecture is Mississippi and the Global South: The Contemporary Paradox of Poverty Amid Plenty.  It is “an exploration of how inequality in Mississippi compares to other parts of the world and how the theoretical concept of ‘the global south’ can help us to overcome scholarly divides in the effort to understand the world-wide disparities that connect us all.”  The lecture is open to the public.   Congratulations, Jeff!
